September 14, 2018 Marty's review:

To put this in layman's terms, this album is soooo COOL! Dreamy exotica with a contemporary feel that reinvents the style in a way that creates an exquisite and stylish sound that swirls and soars. The reinterpretations of past classics like "Don't Fear the Reaper", "I'll Be Seeing You" and "Sweetest Taboo" are delivered ina unique and sensitive way that breathes new life into them. With seductive vocals, lush and layered instrumentation and a production quality that is sublime and polished, this release is destined to create a new genre in jazz exotica.

"Nowadays Toronto can boast a jazz scene as vibrant as Chicago’s. More proof: The Tiki Collective, which brings together 16 vocalists and a flock of players for a set of recordings that draw on the ’50s-’60s tiki bar exotica associated with Arthur Lyman. The tropical sheen merges well with the album’s subtly emotive voices and sophisticated choice of material."

What a great event at the Markham Jazz Festival this year.  Vesuvius Music was present at this event showcasing our existing artists and future ones as well.  The reception we got from the crowd for all of our team was overwhelming.   We are currently involved in making a Blues record with the famous JAY Douglas who did an incredible 2 hour set that had the entire crowd dancing and singing....

John Finley closed out Saturday night with his back up band - THE Tiki Collective.  In the set John did a few songs from his new CD with Vesuvius Music which is coming out shortly.  The audience (standing room only) was intensely captivated by John's powerful voice and stage presence and backed up by a band that played hard and tight.  If you missed this then you missed something special.

Not to fear.... Vesuvius will be show casing Jay and John and Tiki  in early October at Lula Lounge.....  GET YOUR TICKETS AS SOON AS THEY COME OUT AS THIS WILL SELL OUT FASTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.....

December 10, 2019 – Toronto – Unison Benevolent Fund hosted the 5th annual Unison Holiday Schmoozefest, bringing together hundreds of colleagues in the entertainment industry for an evening celebrating the music community. The 2019 edition of Holiday Schmoozefest signalled a turning point for the event with the move to the chic Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex. Held this year on Monday, December 9th, the Unison Holiday Schmoozefest raised $50,000 to support the health and well-being of Canadian music-makers. Proceeds from the event benefit the Unison Benevolent Fund's work to provide Canadian music-makers with life-changing financial assistance and professional counselling programs in times of need.

Before the festivities began, the Unison Board of Directors took a moment to honour the dedication of individuals who have gone above and beyond to support Unison with fundraising initiatives. Jaymz Bee was recognized for his years of dedication to Unison as a past board member, and for his work putting together the inaugural Caravan of Music (along with Vesuvius Music Inc.), a thrilling cross genre event which raised $25,000 in April 2019.

SOUL SINGER - JOHN FINLEY - Producer Lou Pomanti

Here is the cover of our new record with John Finley who just turned 75 yesterday - VMI delivered the first pressing to his door yesterday and what a wonderful birthday present that was.   The first pressing is out and will be available to all soon on all platforms.

VMI started this project over 18 months ago and the record features some strong talent including:  Lou Pomanti, Larnel Lewis, Marc Rogers, Davide DiRenzo, Tony Carlucci, Alison Young, Gavin Hope and others.  This Epic Record draws from the over 5 decades of music and experience from John - soul, blues and gospel.

His live performances are stellar and legendary.  VMI is in process of doing a 3 episode pod cast with John to highlight his past present and future as well as discuss the songs and inspirations for this record.  VMI is also organizing a record listening event at some downtown studio where invited guests can hear first hand the music with commentary from John.  After that there will be a formal record release party with full concert and meet and greet.... of course once we get back to normal.....

VMI is anticipating a July 2020 release of Soul Singer.  Watch for it.

John Finley ripped up Toronto’s Young Street strip in the mid-1960’s with “John and Lee & the Checkmates”, rocked-out venues from Hollywood to the Fillmore East with super-group “Rhinoceros” and soothed souls as part of L.A.’s gospel scene. John's songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Three Dog Night, Johnny Nash, Melissa Manchester and Ivan Neville.

He’s shared stages with The Rolling Stones, the Temptations and Junior Walker - and performed as part of Rev. James Cleveland’s Southern California Community Choir.
